Career Profile:

·        He passed MBBS in 1989 & M.D. (Obst & Gynaec) in 1993 from B.J. Medical College & Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.

·        He started his career as a Consultant Endoscopic Surgeon at Lions Hospital, Mehsana.

·        In August 1996, he started his hospital, Shanti Institute of Endo Infertility, Mehsana.

·        Presently he is one of directors of the Mayflower Women’s Hospital, Ahmedabad. It is a recognized centre by FOGSI (Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Societies of India), APAGE (Asia-Pacific Association of Gynec Endoscopist) and Karl Storz, Germany for the training in advanced laparoscopic surgery in gynaecology.

·        He is associated with Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad as a visiting Consultant Endoscopic Gynaec Surgeon.

·        He was also attached to various hospitals like the 21st Century Hospital at Vapi, Jeevanyog Nursing Home at Visnagar & The Lions Hospital at Mehsana as a visiting Consultant Endoscopic Gynaec Surgeon.

·        He has been invited at several Endoscopic workshops & Conferences as a faculty in different parts of the country.

·        He has been a member of Endoscopic Committee of FOGSI.

·        He is a committee member of IAGE (Indian Association of Gynaec Endoscopists) since 2005.

·        He has performed over 200 Laparoscopic Tubal Recanalisation procedures.

·        He has been awarded Damyanti Ganatra Award in the year 2003 for the best Gynecologist of the year at GIMACON 2003.

·        For his achievements in Gynaec Endoscopic Surgery, he was awarded the prestigious Dr. Suili Rudali Sinha Award for the best research work in Laparoscopic Microsurgery during the National Conference of AICOG 2003 (All India Congress of Obstetrics & Gynaecology).

·        Mayflower Endoscopy team has won the Asculap Golden Telescope Award at the Vth Indian Congress on Endoscopy & ART at Khajuraho, India in November 2004 for a video presentation on ‘Prevention and Management of laparoscopic complications”.

·        Mayflower Endoscopy team has won the Asculap Platinum Telescope Award at VIIth Indo-French Congress on Gynecologic Ultrasound, Endoscopy & Infertility (IF-2006) at Varanasi, India on 23-34th November 2006 for a video presentation on ‘Laparoscopic Management of Broad Ligament Myoma”.

·        Dr. Sanjay Patel is the youngest and the only doctor in India who’s centre has been approved and he has been appointed as Course Director of APAGE (Asia-Pacific Association of Gynec Endoscopist).

·        He has special interests in Laparoscopic Tubal Recanalisation, Laparoscopic Radical Wertheim’s Hysterectomy, Laparoscopic Sling Surgeries for Pelvic Floor Prolapse, Complicated Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Laparoscopic Surgeries for Endometriosis.

·        Till date he has completed more than 16000 surgeries in the Gynaecological Endoscopy.

·        He has successfully conducted 44 batches of Basic & Advanced Gynaecological Laparoscopic Training Program from 1998 - 2006.

·        He has trained 337 doctors for Laparoscopic Gynecological surgeries since 1998.

  • On 26th December 1998 he was one of the participants at 42nd AICOG pre congress workshop held at Secundarabad.
  • On 25th February 1999 he participated in Pre-congress Endoscopy Workshop in 5th National Congress on Assisted Reproductive Technology and Advances in Infertility Management.
  • During 20th–23rd April 2000 He presented in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery Workshop at Bombay.
  • During 27th-30th December 2000 he participated actively pre-congress workshop in 44th AICOG held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • During 5th & 6th February 2001 he was invited as an operating faculty in Endoscopic Surgery & Infertility Management Beyond 2000 (ESIM - B2000) for Live Workshop held at Bombay.

  • In June 2003 he performed Laparoscopic Tubo-Ovarian Mass Removal and Laparoscopic Management of Severe Endometriosis at Baroda General Surgeon Association.
  • During 15th-17th August 2003 He was invited as faculty at International Workshop on Minimally Invasive Surgery, conducted by The Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad. It was one of the biggest workshops of its kind in India involving Gynaecologists, Urologists & Gastro-Enterologists where he performed Laparoscopic Burch’s Colposuspension.

  • During 5th-9th January 2006 at 49th AICOG Kochin he performed “Laparoscopic Tubal Recanalisation”.
  • In February 2006 (2nd-5th) along with other directors of the Mayflower Women’s Hospital and under the auspices of APAGE (Asia-Pacific Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy), he organized the 1st national event composed of The ART & Endoscopy Workshop and Conference (Progress & Challenges in Infertility and Endoscopy) at Ahmedabad. In Endoscopy workshop he and other operating faculties from abroad performed 22 surgeries in one day.
  • On 19th February 2006 he demonstrated Laparoscopic Tubal Recanalisation and Fertility Enhancing Hystero-Laparo-Salpingoscopy at Muzaffarnagar in the workshop Emerging Trends in Endoscopy.
  • On 16th April 2006 he participated actively in the one day workshop organized by Baroda Ob & Gy society.
  • On 27th May 2006 at IAGE Pre-Congress Workshop held at Apollo Hospital, Delhi he performed Laparoscopic Tubo-tubal Anastomosis, Laparoscopic Ovarian Cyst Removal & Hysteroscopic Management of Ashermann’s Syndrome.
  • On 1st December 2006 he was main operating endoscopic surgeon at pre-congress workshop 30th SOGOG held at Bharuch and he demonstrated Lap Recanalisation.
  • On 5th January 2007 he performed three Laparoscopic surgeries for management of Endometriosis at AICOG 2007 at Kolkatta.
  • On 25th January 2007 he was one of the operating faculties at Railway hospital in All Gujarat Surgeons Conference and he demonstrated two cases on Difficult Hysterectomy.

  • On 22-25 September 2005 he made presentation on “Adhesions Still A Major Challenge” and “Laparoscopic Adenomyoma Resection” in the 9th Regional Meeting of ISGE conference at Bombay.
  • On 22-25 September 2006 he made his presentation on “Laparoscopic Tubo-tubal Anastomosis”, “Laparoscopic Management of Adenomyosis” and Laparoscopic Bowel Adhesiolysis in Gynaec Condition” at annual meeting of ISGE held at China.
  • On 6th-9th November 2006 he was invited faculty and made presentations on “Laparoscopic Management of Adenomyosis”, Laparoscopic Bowel Adhesiolysis in Gynec Conditions & “Laparoscopic Tubo-Tubal Anastomosis” in 35th American Association of Gynec Laparoscopists AAGL held at Las Vegas, USA.
