Procedures and Conditions

Blood Investigations related to infertility (AMH)

The starting point for any fertility assessment. AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone) is the most important marker of ovarian reserve - it tells us how many eggs you have left and helps predict how your ovaries will respond to stimulation. Combined with FSH, LH, oestradiol, and thyroid panels, these blood tests give your fertility specialist a complete hormonal picture before any treatment is planned.

Fertility Preservative surgery

For women facing cancer treatment, endometriosis surgery, or other medical procedures that may affect fertility - fertility preservation allows eggs or embryos to be frozen before treatment begins, protecting the option of future pregnancy. At Mayflower, fertility preservation is closely coordinated between our fertility team and our endometriosis surgical specialists, particularly for women undergoing complex excision surgery.

Genetic Testing

Before or during IVF, genetic testing helps identify chromosomal abnormalities that could cause implantation failure, miscarriage, or inherited conditions in future offspring. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT-A and PGT-M) allows our embryologists to select only chromosomally normal embryos for transfer - significantly improving the chances of a successful, ongoing pregnancy, particularly for women over 35 or those with a history of recurrent miscarriage.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

The most widely used ART procedure. Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, fertilised with sperm in our embryology laboratory, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus. At Mayflower, IVF protocols are fully individualised - stimulation approach, embryo selection, and transfer timing are all tailored to your specific profile. Our cumulative IVF success rate is over 90%. For full details, visit our dedicated IVF Clinic page.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

A simpler, less invasive fertility treatment suitable for specific cases - mild male factor infertility, ovulation difficulties, or unexplained infertility. Prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation, improving the chances of fertilisation without the complexity of a full IVF cycle. Your specialist will advise honestly whether IUI or IVF is the more appropriate starting point for your situation.

Male Infertility Evaluaton

Approximately 40 to 50% of infertility cases involve a male factor - yet it is often assessed last or incompletely. At Mayflower, male fertility evaluation includes semen analysis, hormonal assessment, and where indicated, genetic testing and specialist urological review. We assess both partners from the outset, because treating only one half of the equation is not effective fertility care.

Ovulation Induction (OI and Follicular study)

For women who ovulate irregularly or not at all - commonly due to PCOS, hormonal imbalance, or thyroid dysfunction - ovulation induction uses carefully monitored medication to stimulate the ovaries to produce and release a mature egg. Serial ultrasound scans (follicular study) track the development of follicles to identify the optimal time for intercourse or IUI, significantly improving the chances of natural conception.

Pre-conception Counseling

Before beginning any fertility treatment - or before trying to conceive with a known medical history - pre-conception counselling allows your specialist to review your health, optimise your preparation, and identify any factors that may affect your pregnancy. This includes nutritional guidance, medication review, genetic carrier screening where appropriate, and a plan tailored to your situation. Couples who invest in pre-conception care consistently achieve better outcomes.

Semen Analysis

The fundamental investigation in male fertility. Semen analysis assesses sperm count, motility (movement), morphology (shape), and volume - giving a detailed picture of sperm health. At Mayflower, semen analysis is conducted in our in-house laboratory and results are reviewed by our fertility specialists in the context of your complete clinical picture, not in isolation.
